Dartington LandWorks (DLW) is a new Social Enterprise project on the Dartington Estate. DLW will provide a supported route from prison release back into community and employment. It’s in everyone’s interests that prisoners successfully reintegrate back into communities, reducing the likelihood that they will reoffend.
This project will support prisoners who have shown a commitment to change and want to start to take responsibility for their lives. Dartington Landworks will be a non-judgmental environment where good work practice is encouraged and enjoyed. Training in practical skills will go hand in hand with developing social skills, encouraging responsibilities and building self-worth.
How we can help you
LandWorks can offer a unique combination of team work and environment.
The project has been specifically developed to support integration of all community members. Our DLW trainees have served a number of years in prison and have volunteered to work on the project to develop their personal skills, practical work skills and contribute to the sustainability of Dartington Hall. Working with this group will give you a fantastic challenge unlike any other, and you will have a real impact on the development of the individuals themselves.
Not only will you be working with an interesting team, but it will be predominantly working outside in the Devon countryside, where you will be working on creating buidlings and landscaping the grounds for visitors of the future.
Although we are not looking specifically for experience in Landscaping, we are keen to find people who can pass on many of the transferable skills developed in a services career. By having a taster day with us, or a longer term work attachment, you will get a real insight into what it really means to build a team, increase self confidence of individuals and inspire the people (on and around the project), to go the extra mile.
